We do vey little to support the Achuar people, and we may not even know it. Nature is probably one of the most overrated objects known to man these days. We seem to take it for granted and the Achuar people rely on the wildlife and or nature to survive. The oil companies have destroyed so much of the land. This makes the land not even profitable. Along with these problems come health consequences because of the bad exposure to the oil which has the ability to enter through skin absorption , ingestion of drinks or food, or when you inhale the particles. It messes with the texture of your skin as well, it can cause it to dry up as well. If i were in charge of the money i would build schools, and communities so that the population can rise and they become a civilized union.

I believe that the government put a lot of money in various places. But do you think more expenses should be used in some areas than others? I myself never paid attention to how the Achuar people lived. I have never done any research on this group of people so when i read about this i felt very sorry for them. I read about the living conditions that the Achuar people had to live through and it simply amazed me. I think that more money should be sent to these people so that they can live in a way that they can manage comfortably. Their hard work definitely goes to show that they are very hard working, loyal people. These people will soon get what they deserve, and they deserve to live better.
ReplyDeleteI understand the living conditions that they lived through because where I'm from thereunto a lot of positive things to do. I was raised in a place where failure seemed to be the only option, but you must use that as a weapon and turn it into a positive. I can only say i understand them to a certain extent because i have never had to hunt for food myself though. That must be tough for them, i really respect them for that.
ReplyDeleteThank you Chris. I appreciate your very personal and insightful comment. Please work with your group members to kind of make all the references consistent. I am not sure about the format you are using here. Thanks again for doing your work and hanging in there in spite of all the difficulties you are facing this semester.
ReplyDeleteI feel my family would be about to relate to them as well. My family has a good history with McDonalds up in Baltimore. My uncle use to own a McDonalds in Baltimore and my mom use to work there. I remember the long hour having to stay in the back room playing my playstation 1. Tekken was my favorite game. My mom went through a lot of trials and tribulations. I feel like my mom has the creativity, flexibility, and the adaptability of the Yanimami people. Their work ethics are similar. So i will always be able to respect anthropologists and the people they research.
